Ice Hat for Hair Loss in Chemotherapy

As it is known, the target in chemotherapy is to destroy the rapidly growing cancer cells. However, many chemotherapy drugs act as a side effect on hair follicle cells, creating unwanted hair loss.

The most effective method to eliminate this condition is to cool the scalp during chemotherapy. If the scalp can be cooled sufficiently, the blood vessels required to feed the hair follicles normally contract, stopping the blood flow to the scalp, and during chemotherapy, the drug reaches the hair follicles and is destroyed.

This method, which is also used in the medical oncology department of Kolan Hospital Group, also supports the treatment of the disease positively as it enables many patients to continue their daily life without leaving their work and social life.
